Old Bakery Cottage in Bath - 3 Bedroom, Free

Nice property overall but the above points rather clouded the experience Positive: Overall had an enjoyable stay. Nice touch of having some milk , tea bags, coffee etc on arrival Negative: Unfortunately despite having clearly stated on booking that we wanted three beds for three adults and the advert stating we would have use of the entire building, I received an email 2 days before arriving stating that we needed to pay an additional £50 to have one of the beds made up! On querying this I was told it was “clearly stated” in the advert that there was a standard way of making up the beds for three guests. I felt it was ambiguous and clearly designed to make extra money while the headline price appears lower. We paid as it was too late to find somewhere else only to find that the bottom bed sheet on the large master bed didn’t even fit properly so moved when rolling over!! The property is advertised as “ newly renovated“ but this is misleading as it shows considerable signs of wear with cracked mouldy tile in the bathroom, damp on the walls and ceilings of the bedrooms, and evidence of a previous leak around the sink.

Suitable for a short stay Positive: It was very quiet and the open plan living/dining room was nice. The beds were very comfy and the complimentary milk was a nice touch. Negative: The place needed a bit if a refresh, such as the sofa which was stained and not very comfy. The downstairs windows were all locked which was a disadvantage in the heat. It was also disappointing that, after booking, we had to pay an additional £50 for a third bed - not what you expect when booking a 3 bedroom property.

Ideal as a base for retiring after long days out - cosy but could do with a spring clean. Positive: Lovely cottage in a very convenient location. Perfect for relaxing after long days on our feet at Badminton horse trials. Lovely little garden area. Very comfy beds. Negative: The property was unfortunately not particularly clean - sticky kitchen work surfaces and dirty floor. Cobwebs in many corners downstairs - upstairs was good. The property is just a little ‘tired’ inside, a lick of paint and replacing cracked bathroom tiles would make a huge difference to the property, but we did enjoy our stay. Thank you.

Positive: Excellent choice for our size of party. Good situated for our purpose. A bonus with the free parking for our van. Negative: The sofa bed downstairs is broken. We had to use it, but it wasn't comfortable at all.
